What does Freemasonry mean to member’s of Stane Street.
The Brothers of Stane Street Lodge were asked,
“What does Freemasonry mean to me and why do I enjoy it?”
Below are their responses.
“As I am concerned Freemasonry is a wonderful fraternity in which it dose so much, through charity, for so many causes, and that is way I have been a member for just over 40 years.”
“Freemasonry gives me the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life , & creeds in peace, unity & harmony, to stand next to them all as an equal, friend and brother. That’s why I enjoy masonry.2
“Freemasonry gives you the boundaries and skills to enable you to be useful to mankind and respected in life, whilst having fun with your fellow brothers around the globe.”
“The feeling of belonging to an organisation which has long standing traditions with the camaraderie and friendships it brings. The support that Freemasonry brings with everyone welcome and knowing you are helping others.”
“Freemasonry provides me opportunities of memory enhancing learning, a sense of belonging with comradery friendship and support also fulfilment in knowing that we are supporting worthy charities.”
“Freemasonry should make a good person better in life and more considerate to others, it develops friendships that last a lifetime, and gives a valuable lifeline when older in life.”
“For me Freemasonry is about friendship, coming together for a common goal of charity and bettering ones self and helping others better themselves. It is a fraternity where I feel included, welcomed and appreciated in all aspects of masonry from the ritual to the social side. When times are tough then my fellow brothers have been there to support me and I have also been able to support my fellow brothers that have needed my support.”
“Friendship, laughter, charity, learning, public speaking, advancing memory, a hobby for life, networking, visiting other lodges, meeting and hearing the life story and experiences of people from different ages/backgrounds, social events, the peculiarity of it as a hobby and the ethos of helping others in time of need.”
“Freemasonry has helped me and family during tough times and also my mother her sisters were supported by the Freemasons when she lost her parents. I enjoy it as it’s nice to go out each month meeting people from all different walks of life, supporting charity and good causes whilst having fun and keeping the brain active no matter what age.”
“It is an insurance policy with benefits: When I first joined, I was married and we were, within a few years, to start our family. I knew that if anything were to happen to me, that my brother masons would look after my spouse and eventually my daughter. Putting her through her education. What peace of mind this provided. Then you find out how much fun it is and the rest pages into insignificance!”
